EMPHASIS: Troop D: Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Seizure In Greene County

On October 23, 2011, at approximately 10:18 a.m., an eastbound Volvo conventional tractor-trailer truck was stopped by a state trooper for a registration and lane violation at the 83-mile marker of Interstate 44, in Greene County. After discovering several indicators of suspected criminal activity, the trooper obtained consent to search the vehicle. A roadside search revealed 11 bundles of marijuana, weighing approximately 215 pounds, located inside the trailer.

The driver, Locksley A. Beckford, of Bronx, NY, was arrested for drug trafficking and transported to Greene County Sheriff's Office.

The charge for which the above person was arrested is mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the above charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
