EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation Conducted In Caldwell County

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Caldwell County.

The saturation was held from 7:00 p.m. on July 3, 2015, to 3:00 a.m. on July 4, 2015. During this enforcement operation, six officers patrolled Caldwell County with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, there were two arrests for driving while intoxicated, 16 traffic citations issued, two misdemeanor drug arrests, and 45 warnings.

“Impaired driving poses a significant threat to motorists on Missouri’s roadways,” stated Captain McDonald. “One of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s highest priorities is removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
