EMPHASIS: Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation


Captain Vincent J. Ellis, commanding officer of Troop A in Lee’s Summit, announces the results of a commercial vehicle enforcement operation that was conducted in Jackson County on June 5 through June 7, 2007. One corporal, four troopers, four commercial vehicle enforcement troopers (CVETS), and 16 commercial vehicle officers (CVOs), along with four commercial vehicle officers from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department were assigned to the project. A total of 377 arrests were made during the operation. This total reflects the following tickets issued: four overweight, one log book, 45 driver’s license, three over-dimension, 74 equipment, 61 vehicle license, three IFTA, and 186 other misdemeanor arrests. There were 658 warnings issued. During the operation, a total of 891 commercial vehicles were stopped. Inspections were completed on 574 commercial vehicles resulting in 34 drivers and 74 commercial vehicles being placed out-of-service.
