EMPHASIS: Results of DWI Saturation Conducted in Buchanan County


Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Buchanan County. The saturation was held from 7:00 p.m. on May 2, 2014, to 3:00 a.m. on May 3, 2014. During this enforcement operation four officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers issued 22 citations and 53 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturation:
2--Driving while intoxicated arrests were made.
1--Citation was issued for a failed to yield violation.
2--Citations were issued for seatbelt violations.
1--Citation was issued for a hazardous moving violation
5--Citations were issued for non-moving violations.
1--Citation was issued for a no driver’s license violation.
2--Citations were issued for driving while suspended/revoked.
7--Citations were issued for no insurance.
1--Citation was issued for exceeding the posted speed limit.

“Impaired driving poses a significant threat to motorists on Missouri’s roadways,” stated Captain McDonald. “One of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s highest priorities is removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver.”
In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
