EMPHASIS: Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Enforcement Operations

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that Troop C will once again be participating in the Thanksgiving holiday weekend enforcement operations. These operations' objective is to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. Throughout the holiday weekend, troopers within Troop C, as well as throughout the state, will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). In addition to Operation C.A.R.E., Troop C will also be participating in a statewide special enforcement operation during the peak travel periods on Wednesday, November 25, and Sunday, November 29. During this operation, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile stretches of Interstate 70 and Interstate 44. Enforcement efforts on secondary roads will be conducted during the same timeframe within Troop C. Over the entire holiday weekend troopers will be vigorously enforcing all traffic laws and helping motorists in need of assistance.

“The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is the busiest holiday of the year," said Captain Johnson. "We hope that by conducting these special enforcement projects, we will make our presence known, and help reduce the number of traffic crashes."

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
