EMPHASIS: "Ten-Mile Trooper Project" In Troop D
Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces that Troop D will participate in a program designed to provide maximum manpower during the peak travel days of the Labor Day holiday weekend. The program, known as “10-Mile Trooper Project”, is designed to provide a trooper at least every 10 miles on designated highways throughout the state. The designated highway for Troop D is Interstate 44, from the Oklahoma state line to the Webster-Laclede county line. The dates of the program are September 4, 2009, and September 7, 2009. In addition, troopers will also be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the entire Labor Day holiday weekend. Troopers will be targeting all traffic violations, enforcing a zero tolerance policy on occupants not wearing seatbelts, and assisting the motoring public who encounter problems.
