EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Enforcement Operations For July Fourth Holiday

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that during the July Fourth holiday weekend, Troop I officers will be participating in enforcement operations to help make our roadways safer.
Throughout the weekend, troopers within Troop I and the state will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). Once again, both the “20-Mile Trooper” project on Interstate 44 and High Enforcement Contact Teams patrolling secondary highways will be utilized on the designated peak travel days of Thursday, July 3, 2014, and Sunday, July 6, 2014. The objective of the officers assigned to these operations is promoting highway safety through high visibility and strict enforcement. Troopers will also be able to respond quickly to motorists who need assistance. The 2014 July Fourth weekend counting period will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, and end at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, July 6.
Captain Remillard stated, “I hope that you and your family have the opportunity during the July Fourth weekend to enjoy some of the many outdoor activities our state has to offer. As you do, please don’t forget that safe practices, both on our highways and waterways, will ensure that those experiences do not have a tragic end.”
In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
