EMPHASIS: 2014 Lake Area Verification Station Dates

Captain Gregory D. Kindle, commanding officer, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop F, announces the Patrol will host serial number verification stations at Grand Glaize Marina, Public Beach #2, Lake of the Ozarks. Members of the Patrol’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit and troopers stationed at the Lake of the Ozarks will perform verifications at the Public Beach #2 parking lot starting Friday, May 9, 2014. The verifications are scheduled to be conducted every other Friday throughout the summer from 9-10 a.m., but will be available after that time if needed. Citizens may bring their watercraft on a trailer or by water, and may use the courtesy dock near the boat launch at Public Beach #2.

This service is provided for citizens who are required by the Missouri Department of Revenue to have the vehicle identification number(s) of their boat, motor, or trailer inspected before application for title or registration can be made, and is at no cost to the citizen. These instances are generally confined to purchases of non-titled vessels from out-of-state or titles that contain errors. Citizens must bring proof of ownership, such as a bill of sale, with the item to be inspected.

Captain Kindle reminds citizens that Missouri law requires all motorized vessels, sailboats over 12 feet long, and gasoline powered outboard motors to be titled within 60 days of purchase, and registered with the state prior to use on state waters. Missouri residents are required to provide a valid title at the time of sale to the purchaser of such items.

The 2014 Public Beach #2 station dates are:

Friday, May 9, 2014 Friday, July 18, 2014
Friday, May 23, 2014 Friday, August 1, 2014
Friday, June 6, 2014 Friday, August 15, 2014
Friday, June 20, 2014 Friday, August 29, 2014

In support of “The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!!
