EMPHASIS: New Troopers Assigned To Troop E

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, is pleased to announce the assignment of three new troopers to Southeast Missouri. The new troopers are members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 100th Recruit Class that graduated from the Patrol Academy on June 26, 2015. The new troopers will report for duty on July 13, 2015.

Trooper Emily M. Westmoreland, of Perryville, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 2, which serves the citizens of Butler and Ripley counties. Trooper Westmoreland is a graduate from Perryville High School, and holds a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Trooper Westmoreland’s training officer will be Corporal Mike G. Slaughter.

Trooper David W. Welker, of Gordonville, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 6, which serves the citizens of Mississippi, New Madrid, and Scott counties. Trooper Welker is a graduate from Jackson High School and holds a master’s degree in criminology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. Trooper Welker’s field training officer will be Trooper Brooks A. Pratt.

Trooper Marcus L. Schlief, of Doniphan, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 1, which serves the citizens of Butler and Ripley counties. Trooper Schlief is a graduate of Doniphan High School, and holds an associate of arts degree in criminal justice from Three River Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Trooper Schlief is married to Taylor (Hanser) Schlief and they have two children. Trooper Schlief’s field training officer will be Corporal Terry W. Lee.
