EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint, which was conducted from 10 p.m., July 6, 2013, until 2 a.m., July 7, 2013, on Missouri Highway 5, near the Lebanon Airport, in Laclede County. During the four-hour period, troopers stopped a total of 190 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the operation:
1 -- DWI
6 -- Seat Belt Violations
6 -- Non-Moving Traffic Violations
2 -- Driver’s License Violations
3 -- Uninsured Motorist Violations
1 -- Misdemeanor Warrant
28 -- Warnings

Captain Kenley stated, “Traffic crashes that are the result of an alcohol- or drug-impaired driver are completely preventable. I hope that enforcement operations such as this will serve as both a deterrent and a means by which we can remove those who put themselves and others in danger on our highways.” Captain Kenley would like to encourage all motorists who observe a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner to call the Missouri State Highway Patrol emergency hotline at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on a cellular phone to report the incident.
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
