EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation Conducted In Knox County

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Knox County. The saturation was conducted from 11 p.m. on September 12, to 3 a.m. on September 13, 2015. During the enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers made two arrests for driving while intoxicated, and issued six traffic citations and 10 warnings. The following is a list of traffic citations issued:
3 - Citations were issued for seat belt violations.
1 - Citation was issued for a hazardous moving violation.
2 - Citations were issued for insurance violations.
"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
