EMPHASIS: Troop C -- July 4 Weekend Enforcement Totals

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the 2015 July Fourth holiday weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop C area. Troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the holiday weekend. As an added enforcement effort, Troop C officers conducted a 20-Mile Trooper operation on Interstate 70 and Interstate 44.

The counting period began at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015, and ended at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2015. Troopers investigated 58 traffic crashes in which one person died. Troopers arrested 19 people for driving while intoxicated and one person was arrested for boating while intoxicated. Other enforcement totals are as follows:

Misdemeanor Arrests -- 79 arrests
Felony Arrests -- 26 arrests
DWI Arrests -- 19 arrests
Boating While Intoxicated -- 1 arrest
Other Criminal Arrests -- 25 arrests
Warnings -- 910
Motorist Assists -- 332

“Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and please take the job of driving seriously. Obey the speed limit, pay attention, buckle up, and do not drink and drive,” stated Captain Johnson.


Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
