EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Conduct Boating While Intoxicated Saturation On Area Waterways

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces during the months of June and July 2012, Troop B officers will be conducting boating while intoxicated saturations on Long Branch Lake, Mark Twain Lake, Thomas Hill Lake, and the Mississippi River. The goal of these enforcement operations is to detect impaired vessel operators, hazardous boat operation, and other hazardous boating violations that contribute to boating crashes.
Boaters are reminded to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol using *55 if they need assistance, or observe another boater operating a vessel in an unsafe manner.

“Missouri has a vast amount of beautiful waterways that are enjoyed by many,” stated Captain Wilt. “Although boating is a fun recreational activity, safe operation is important. Never operate your boat after you have consumed alcohol, and always make sure each passenger has a life jacket.”
