EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation In Troop E

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a DWI saturation conducted in Troop E on December 8, 2011. During the operation, a total of 47 vehicles were stopped. As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 31 arrests were made and 56 warnings were issued. Of the 31 arrests, troopers issued four summonses for driving while intoxicated, eight summonses for no seat belt, three summonses for hazardous moving violations, two summonses for no driver’s license, five summonses for no insurance, seven summonses for non-moving violations, and one summons for exceeding the posted speed. One individual was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant.

Captain Ridens said, “The DWI saturations are very important in making our highways a safer place to travel. The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in Southeast Missouri. The DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”

The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report any vehicle they observe operating in a careless manner. The public can contact the Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or on their cellular phone at *55.
