EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In St. Francois County



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, August 24, 2013. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013, and was located on U.S. Highway 67, north of the Missouri Highway 32 entrance ramp from Karsch Boulevard. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 672 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

3 -- DWI arrests
2-- seat belt summonses
5 -- uninsured motorist summonses
5 -- driver's license summonses
1 -- non-moving summons
7 -- warrant arrests
2 -- drug arrests
55 -- warnings issued

Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
