EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In Jefferson County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the potential hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008, to 3 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2008, in Jefferson County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations and impaired driving conditions, in an effort to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. During the operation 42 arrests were made and 65 warnings were issued. Among the arrests were eight subjects for driving while intoxicated, two of which were felony driving while intoxicated arrests, and one subject for a drug violation. Additional summonses issued included 13 for moving violations, five for seat belt violations and seven for non-moving violations.
Captain Johnson stated, “Impaired drivers continue to contribute to traffic crashes and fatalities on our roadways. Through enforcement efforts such as Operation A.R.R.E.S.T., we can continue to reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities in Missouri. Please remember always to designate a sober driver, obey the speed limit and make sure everyone is properly restrained in your vehicle.”
