EMPHASIS: Harrison County Drug Arrest

On January 24, 2009, a northbound 2000 Nissan Maxima was stopped for a traffic violation on Interstate 35, in Harrison County. During the traffic stop, troopers began to suspect criminal activity and asked for permission to search the Nissan. The driver refused the request and troopers brought to the scene a Patrol canine, “Charlie”. The canine conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. Troopers searched the vehicle and located 20 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bag inside the vehicle.
The driver, Aaron Johnston, of Excelsior Springs, was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver. He was taken to the Harrison County Jail, where he currently is being held.
The charge for which this individual has been arrested is a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
