EMPHASIS: Announcement Of Sobriety Checkpoint And Saturation
Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H, St Joseph, announces that sometime during the month of December, Troop H will conduct a sobriety checkpoint and a driving while intoxicated saturation. The sobriety checkpoint will be held in Buchanan County, and the saturation will be conducted in Nodaway County.
The checkpoint is a static operation on a specific highway that is designed to check every driver to ensure they are not impaired. The driving while intoxicated saturation is a mobile operation in which troopers saturate a specific highway in an effort to arrest intoxicated drivers.
Captain Robinson stated, “The holidays are a time for families and parties. Unfortunately, this can also mean impaired drivers. The sobriety checkpoint and saturation are tools used to ensure that every driver is safe to operate a motor vehicle.”
Captain Robinson urges you to telephone the Patrol if you observe any vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. Drivers can use the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s toll-free numbers for reporting emergencies. These numbers are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular * 55.
The Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves from all types of hazardous drivers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Click It 4 Life!
