Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Clark County.
On May 4, 2013, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Clark County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 61/U.S. Highway 136, approximately three tenths of a mile south of the Iowa border, in Clark County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on May 4, 2013, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on May 5, 2013, officers checked 153 vehicles, issued seven traffic citations, and issued 12 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

2 -- Citations for seat belt violations
1 -- Citation for a child restraint violation
2 -- Citations for driver’s license violations
2 -- Citations for an insurance violation

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
