EMPHASIS: Death Investigation & Arrest In Troop G

Captain Sarah L. Eberhard, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the arrest of Bobbie M. Derryberry for endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse.

On June 16, 2013, officers were dispatched to a residence in Mountain View, Missouri, in reference to a five-month-old child that was unresponsive and not breathing. Officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child until emergency medical services arrived. The infant was transported to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, where the infant was pronounced dead. As a result of the investigation, Bobbie M. Derryberry, 21, of Mountain View, was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse. She was held in the Howell County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Agencies involved in the investigation include the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and Troop G, Willow Springs, Howell County Sheriff’s Department, Mountain View Police Department, South Central Drug Task Force, and the Missouri Department of Social Services Children's Division.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
