EMPHASIS: Troop C Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Results In Franklin County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of the Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. project that was conducted on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in Franklin County, on Interstate 44. During the eight-hour project, 11 troopers focused their attention on violations that occurred within two construction/work zones. Both work zones are located on Interstate 44. The first work zone is located between Gray Summit, Missouri, and the Washington Missouri exit (mile-marker 251). The second work zone is located on I-44 two miles east of Sullivan, Missouri.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 101 summonses and 64 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, 68 individuals were cited for exceeding the speed limit and 16 people were cited for no seat belt. The remainder of the summonses were issued for miscellaneous violations. During the eight-hour project, 111 vehicles were stopped for various traffic violations.
Captain Johnson said, “These types of operations that are conducted in construction/work zones make it safer for the motoring public, contractors, and state employees. Please obey the reduced speed limits and be attentive while driving through construction zones.”
