EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces DWI Spotcheck In Laclede County
Lieutenant James W. Remillard, acting commanding officer of Troop I, announces that a sobriety spotcheck will be held in Laclede County sometime during the month of August. The spotcheck will be conducted on a highway where a larger number of alcohol-related traffic crashes and arrests occurred last year.
Sobriety spotchecks are part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove alcohol-impaired drivers from Missouri’s highways. In addition to impaired drivers, troopers and other law enforcement officers at these checkpoints frequently find other violations of law, ranging from possession of illegal drugs to vehicle registration violations.
Lt. Remillard would like for motorists who approach a checkpoint to slow down and watch for vehicles in front of them as they prepare to stop. Lt. Remillard also encourages motorists to please have their driver’s license and insurance papers ready for inspection by the officers at the checkpoint.
