EMPHASIS: Drug Seizure By Highway Patrol In Perry County



On Tuesday, February 4, 2009, a northbound white 2006 Ford F150 was stopped by a trooper for exceeding the posted speed limit on Interstate 55 at the 139-mile marker in Perry County. A computer check of the driver revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The driver was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant. A search incident to arrest revealed 20 pounds of marijuana in the back seat of the vehicle.

The driver, Charles D. Dewalt, 42, of Centerville, Illinois, was arrested for drug trafficking.

The charge for which the above person was arrested is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of this charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
