EMPHASIS: Captain Powell Announces Promotion Of Corporal Mark D. DeGraffenreid


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces the following promotion effective April 1, 2011:

Corporal Mark D. DeGraffenreid, of Sedalia, Missouri, will be promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be designated the zone supervisor of Zone 10, serving Saline County. DeGraffenreid was appointed to the Patrol on October 20, 2002, as a member of the 80th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone 13, serving Pettis County. In 2009, DeGraffenreid was promoted to corporal, and remained in Zone 13, Pettis County.

DeGraffenreid was born in Jefferson City, Missouri. He graduated from the School of the Osage High School, in Osage Beach, Missouri, in 1995. Sergeant DeGraffenreid earned a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education in 2001, from Missouri State University, in Springfield. Sergeant DeGraffenreid and his wife, Kristin (Gaertner), have two daughters: Ashlyn, 4, and Alexis, 10.
