Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a commercial motor vehicle enforcement operation conducted in Marion County on April 14, 2016. During the SAFETE enforcement operation, which was funded by the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, officers focused their attention on commercial motor vehicle violations. During the operation, officers conducted 17 commercial motor vehicle inspections, and issued 11 citations and 56 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

4 -- Citations were issued for exceeding the speed limit.
2 -- Citations were issued for non-moving violations.
4 -- Citations were issued for commercial vehicle violations.
1 -- Citation was issued for an insurance violation.

“Traffic enforcement operations such as this one are very important in keeping our highways safe,” stated Captain Wilt. “Special enforcement operations are conducted throughout the year in an effort to reduce traffic crashes.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
