EMPHASIS: Troop F Officers To Participate In Operation C.A.R.E. And Peak Travel Crash Reduction Enforcement Programs Over The 2016 Memorial Day Weekend

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces that Troop F officers will participate in Operation C.A.R.E. and statewide peak travel crash reduction enforcement programs over the 2016 Memorial Day weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the long holiday weekend. This means every available officer will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists.

Additionally, Troop F officers will be conducting statewide peak travel crash reduction enforcement programs on Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 54 through the Troop F area on May 27, 2015, and May 30, 2016. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile intervals, from the 87-mile marker to the 186-mile marker, in an effort to step up traffic enforcement with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend. This year's Memorial Day weekend counting period is from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016.

“Whether you will be visiting family, going to one of Missouri’s lakes, or enjoying other travel destinations, the Missouri State Highway Patrol urges everyone to think about safety when making plans for the upcoming holiday weekend.” stated Captain Turner.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
