EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Lincoln County



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Friday evening, June 15, 2012. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Friday, June 15, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, and was located at U.S. Highway 61 and South Lincoln Drive. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 597 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

7 -- DWI arrests
6 -- driver’s license summonses
2 -- speed summonses
1 -- minor in possession arrest
6 -- uninsured motorists
2 -- drug arrests
15 -- warnings


Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."
