EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces DWI Saturations In Greene And McDonald Counties
Captain Randy Beydler, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces that sometime during the month of August 2008, driving while intoxicated saturations will be conducted in Greene and McDonald counties.
“Saturations and sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s concentrated effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s roadways,” said Captain Beydler. “In Missouri, in 2007, a total of 225 people were killed and 3,331 were injured in drinking related crashes. This represents a 5.1 percent and 5.6 percent decrease, respectively, over the 2006 totals. We want to see that number drop even more for this year and feel enforcement projects such as these help save lives.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report any vehicle they observe operating in an unsafe manner. The public can contact the Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or on their cellular phone at *55.
