EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Sobriety Checkpoints In St. Louis And St. Francois Counties

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that sobriety checkpoints will be held in St. Louis and St. Francois counties sometime in the month of August 2013. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct the sobriety checkpoints.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations, which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Johnson says, "Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the intoxicated driver from Missouri's highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
