EMPHASIS: OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Scheduled In Franklin County

“OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” identifies and prioritizes construction/work zones with critical issues or problems affecting highway safety through complaints from the general public, highway/construction workers, law enforcement and emergency responders, to include but not limited to recent crash statistics. In addition, a Zero Tolerance enforcement policy has been established for the operation as well as routine construction zone enforcement focusing on traffic violations, such as speeding, following too close, other hazardous moving and commercial motor vehicle violations. This zero tolerance policy directs troopers to take appropriate action on all observed traffic violations in construction/work zones by issuing uniform citations or warnings.

“OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” will be a six-hour operation, utilizing 12 state troopers. The enforcement effort will focus on Missouri Highway 100 between the city of Washington and Interstate 44. Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. will begin at 7 a.m. and continue to 1 p.m. on March 11, 2009.

TO ALL MEDIA OUTLETS, Please DO NOT release the location of Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. prior to 7 a.m. on March 11, 2009. All other information regarding this operation may be released at any time.
