EMPHASIS: Enforcement Totals For Operation Life Saver


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the Life Saver weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop C area. During the weekend, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). The 2011 Life Saver weekend traffic crash counting period began just after midnight on Friday, December 16, 2011, and ended at midnight on Sunday, December 18, 2011. The enforcement totals for the project resulted in Troop C officers investigating 79 traffic crashes, including two fatalities. Enforcement totals included 490 speed citations, 203 seat belt and child restraint citations, 210 driver license/insurance/registration citations, 89 other hazardous moving citations, and 73 other non-moving citations. A total of 939 warnings were issued during the counting period. In addition, 11 felony and 88 misdemeanor arrests were made. Troop C officers made 37 DWI arrests and assisted 205 stranded motorists.
