EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of DWI Saturation In Greene County

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a DWI saturation in Greene County conducted on April 22 and 23, 2016. The enforcement location was selected based on the high number of drinking and impairment-related crashes, in addition to other traffic violations that contribute to unsafe driving behavior.

During the operation, officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped 99 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

DWI Arrests -- 12
Speed Violations -- 9
Seat Belt Citations -- 24
Driver License Violations -- 12
Uninsured Motorist Violations -- 15
Other Hazardous Moving Citations -- 13
Non-Moving Traffic Offenses -- 11
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests -- 2
Misdemeanor Drug Arrests -- 2
Felony Drug Arrests -- 3

Officers also issued 134 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.

Captain Villanueva stated, “The motoring public has been very supportive of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s efforts to make our roads safer through the use of special enforcement operations. Nobody wants to share the road with a drunk, drugged, or otherwise unsafe driver. Please do your part by driving safely.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
