EMPHASIS: Heroin Seized In Montgomery County

On November 12, 2008, an officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop and after receiving conflicting information from the driver and passenger, written consent to search was requested and granted. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 1.2 pounds of heroin. The traffic stop took place on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.
The driver, Liverio Ruiz-Chavira, 30, of Kansas City, MO, and passenger Jamie Chavira-Chapparo, 29, of Kansas City, MO, were arrested and charged with felony 1st degree drug trafficking.
The charge for which Ruiz-Chavira and Chavira-Chapparo have been arrested is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
