EMPHASIS: Pursuit With Felony Arrest

On December 4, 2007, Troop H received information that a wanted felon would be transporting narcotics to the St. Joseph area via Interstate 29. The information was a result of a joint investigation by the St. Joseph Street Crimes Unit and the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force.
Six miles south of St. Joseph, officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Drug Strike Force, initiated a traffic stop on a northbound gold Dodge Dynasty, matching the description of the information. The vehicle failed to stop and a 37-minute pursuit began. The pursuit went through the city of St. Joseph and continued back south on Interstate 29. It ended after officers successfully deployed a spike strip that deflated two of the tires on the Dynasty, approximately 5 miles north of Platte City. During the pursuit, the suspect threw narcotics out of the vehicle’s window and officers also located additional narcotics inside the vehicle.
The suspect was identified as Marcus Moore, age 50, of St. Joseph. He is charged with a probation violation (felony), possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver (felony), resisting arrest by fleeing (felony), and numerous traffic violations. Officers located the narcotics that were along the highway and still more were found inside the vehicle during a search.
The charges for which the above listed individual has been arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
