EMPHASIS: Enforcement Totals For Life Saver Weekend


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the Life Saver weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop C area. During the weekend, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). The 2010 Life Saver weekend traffic crash counting period began just after midnight on Friday, December 17, 2010, and ended at midnight on Sunday, December 19, 2010. The enforcement totals for the project resulted in Troop C officers investigating 61 traffic crashes, including one fatality. Enforcement totals included 286 speed citations, 133 seat belt and child restraint citations, 97 driver license/insurance/registration citations, 72 other hazardous moving citations, and 56 other non-moving citations. A total of 704 warnings were issued during the counting period. In addition, nine felony and 35 misdemeanor arrests were made. Troop C officers made 17 DWI arrests and assisted 261 stranded motorists.

"I commend the outstanding work performed by our troopers and commercial motor vehicle personnel," stated Captain Johnson.
