EMPHASIS: Drug Investigation

Captain Kyle Marquart, Director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the results of a joint narcotics investigation in Crawford County.

On Wednesday, November 24, 2010, after a short-term narcotics investigation, officers of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol executed a search warrant on a warehouse located at 2164 Spurgeon Road, Cuba, Missouri. As a result of the search warrant, methamphetamine, a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, and articles of drug paraphernalia were seized. Arrested at the scene were three Gasconade County residents: Anthony B. Barton, 25, Michael J. Fischer, 31, and Spencer T. Vaughn, 22. The Crawford County Prosecutor formally charged the three individuals with manufacturing a controlled substance. All three individuals are being held in the Crawford County Jail in lieu of a $7,500 bond.

The Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group is a multi-jurisdictional drug task force. Its members include the sheriff’s departments of Crawford, Camden, Gasconade, Pulaski, Laclede, and Maries counties, as well as the Lebanon and Osage Beach police departments. LANEG is governed by a board of directors and is coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
