EMPHASIS: DWI Checkpoint To Be Conducted In St. Francois County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in St. Francois County sometime in the month of September 2015. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct the sobriety checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove impaired drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Johnson says, "Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the impaired driver from Missouri's highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while impaired, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or *55."

In support of 'The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,' the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
