EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint And DWI Saturations

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Stone County and DWI saturations in Christian and Jasper counties on March 15-16, 2013. The enforcement locations were selected based on their high number of drinking- and impairment-related traffic crashes and the large number of contacts with drivers who have been intoxicated.

During the course of the weekend, officers from the three enforcement efforts stopped 456 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operations:

DWI Arrests -- 12
Speed Violations -- 14

Hazardous Moving Violations -- 16
Non-Moving Traffic Offenses -- 16
Driver’s License Violations -- 8
Uninsured Motorists Violations -- 8
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests -- 5
Felony Warrant Arrests -- 2
