EMPHASIS: Troop F To Host Student Alliance Program

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F will conduct a Student Alliance Program beginning Thursday, March 6, 2014, and concluding on Thursday, April 10, 2014. The mission of the Student Alliance Program is to provide personal interaction between college students, high school juniors and seniors, and the Patrol. The program is designed for those possessing a strong interest in learning about the Patrol’s purpose and role within the law enforcement community. The Highway Patrol is seeking 20 high school/college students who are willing to commit to a program offered by the Patrol that provides a unique opportunity.

The classes will meet on six Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., at Troop F Headquarters, located at 2920 North Shamrock Road, Jefferson City, Missouri. Successful completion of the program will require attendance at each Thursday evening session. (One absence will be allowed with prior approval from the program coordinator.) The curriculum will familiarize participants with many Patrol policies and procedures utilizing teaching techniques similar to those experienced by troopers attending the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City. Many evenings will include activities and role-playing exercises that provide participants practical experience. The last session of the program will conclude with awards being presented to each participant who successfully completes the program.

Program Curriculum:
March 6 - History of the Patrol, So You Want To Be A Trooper, and Tools Of The Trade
March 13 - Traffic Enforcement
March 20 - Crime Control
March 27 - Tactical Activities
April 3 - Firearms
April 10 - DWI Detection

The Patrol is accepting applications for the Student Alliance Program through February 20, 2014. This program is planned as an annual event, and there is no cost to the participants. Selection of 20 applicants will be based upon an evaluation of an application form and a criminal record check. Application forms are available by calling Sergeant Paul J. Reinsch or Ms. Dee Kempker at 573-751-1000.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
