EMPHASIS: Marijuana Arrest In Callaway County

On May 14, 2012, a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop near the 142-mile marker on Interstate 70. After making contact with the driver, a search of the vehicle was requested and received. A K-9 search revealed 22 pounds of marijuana concealed in a tool box under sand in the cargo area of the 2006 Nissan truck.

The driver, Joe Garza, 54, and passenger, Patricia C. Sanchez, 48, both of Pueblo, CO, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. They are being held at the Callaway County Jail until the posting of bond.

The charge for which Garza and Sanchez have been arrested is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
