EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Special Enforcement Operations


Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a DWI saturation and sobriety checkpoint, which were both conducted in Laclede County during December 2013.
The sobriety checkpoint was held from 10 p.m., December 20, 2013, until 4 a.m., December 21, 2013. The DWI saturation was conducted from 7 p.m., December 21, 2013, until 3 a.m., December 22, 2013. As a result of these operations, 66 individuals were either arrested or issued citations and 99 warnings were issued. The following is a breakdown of the violations:
DWI: 1
Speed Violations: 7
Failure To Wear A Seat Belt: 19
Hazardous Moving Violations: 8
Non-Moving Violations: 14
Driver’s License Violations: 2
Uninsured Motorists: 4
Minor In Possessions Of Alcohol: 1
Misdemeanor Drug Arrests: 6
Felony Drug Arrests: 2
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest: 1
Other Felony Arrest: 1

Captain Kenley stated, “Making our highways safer by reducing the number of vehicle crashes—and thus saving lives—is the Patrol's primary goal. It is hoped that education and enforcement operations such as these will help us accomplish this vital mission. I encourage everyone to follow the rules of the road and to make sure everyone in your vehicle is buckled-up.”
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
