EMPHASIS: Troop A Announces "Click It Or Ticket" Enforcement Campaign Totals


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the totals for the “Click It Or Ticket” enforcement campaign that was conducted in Platte, Clay, Jackson, Lafayette, and Johnson counties from May 18 through May 31, 2009.
Troop A officers issued 227 seat belt summonses and 13 citations for failure to properly secure a child in an approved child restraint seat.
A zero tolerance policy for seat belt use was in effect throughout this operation to raise seat belt awareness and compliance. Electronic message boards, provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation, were activated reminding motorists of the campaign. The enforcement operation is part of a national campaign, and was conducted statewide in Missouri.
Captain Powell stated, “Any time you are involved in a traffic crash, you have little, if any, control of the end result. Taking three seconds to properly fasten and adjust your seat belt is one thing you can control, and one way to increase your chance of surviving a traffic crash.”
