EMPHASIS: Four New Troopers Assigned To Troop A

Lieutenant Eric T. Olson, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, is pleased to announce the assignment of four new troopers to Troop A. The new troopers are members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 98th Recruit Class which began training on January 2, 2014, and graduated from the Patrol Academy on June 27, 2014. The new troopers will report for duty on July 14, 2014.
Trooper Daniel R. Becker, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, has been assigned to Zone 1, which serves the citizens of Platte County. Trooper Becker graduated from Athens High School in Athens, Illinois. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Central Christian College of Kansas, which is located in McPherson, Kansas. Trooper Becker’s field training officer will be Trooper John Harrison.
Trooper Ethan N. Wilson, a native of Springfield, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 2, which serves the citizens of Platte County. Trooper Wilson graduated from Aurora High School in Aurora, Missouri. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from College of the Ozarks, which is located in Point Lookout, Missouri. Trooper Wilson is married to Morgan (Smith) Wilson. Trooper Wilson’s field training officer will be Trooper Matthew Yoder.
Trooper Spencer D. Sears, a native of Osage Beach, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 3, which serves the citizens of Clay County. Trooper Sears graduated from Morgan County R-II High School in Versailles, Missouri. He holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. Trooper Sears’ field training officer will be Trooper Joseph Hall.
Trooper Brian N. Marquart, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 4, which serves the citizens of Clay County. Trooper Marquart graduated from John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Manchester, Missouri. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Trooper Marquart’s field training officer will be Trooper David Kline.
In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket.
