EMPHASIS: Drug Seizure, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop D

On Sunday, February 3, 2008, troopers assigned to Troop D, Springfield, conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles traveling together on Interstate 44 in Greene County. One vehicle, a 2001 GMC pickup, was stopped for a registration violation and for following too close. The other vehicle, a 2001 Chrysler passenger car, was stopped for a lane violation. After becoming suspicious of the drivers’ statements due to inconsistencies, the troopers requested to search both vehicles. Permission was granted and a search of the passenger car revealed approximately 184 pounds of marijuana.
Both drivers, Dolivar Adkins and Joseph Adkins, along with a passenger, Amber Clark, all of West Virginia, were arrested for drug trafficking and transported to the Greene County Jail.
The charges for which the above persons are accused are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
