EMPHASIS: DeKalb County Drug Arrest
On July 13, 2008, at 8:30 p.m., a northbound 1994 Nissan pickup was stopped for a driving violation on Interstate 35 in DeKalb County. During the traffic stop, troopers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Nissan. The driver gave consent to search the pickup and three pounds of marijuana was located in the bed of the truck.
The driver, Jamell Cooper of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He is currently being held in the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.
The charge for which the individual has been arrested is a mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
