Captain Billy E. Chadwick, commanding officer of Troop G, Willow Springs, announces the results of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) truck check conducted May 18, through May 20, 2009, in Howell and Oregon counties. Commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers from Troop G, Willow Springs, and Troop I, Rolla, conducted this operation.
The goal of the operation was to remove unsafe commercial vehicles and unqualified or impaired drivers from Missouri’s roadways. Officers set up numerous checkpoints and stopped commercial vehicles to conduct random driver and vehicle inspections.
During the three-day operation, officers performed 65 inspections with 308 violations discovered. There were 27 vehicles and eight drivers placed out-of-service. In addition, officers made 61 arrests and issued 65 warnings.
Captain Chadwick stated, “The truck checks are part of the continuing effort by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to remove unsafe commercial vehicles and unqualified or impaired drivers from our roadways.”
