EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint In Taney County

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a DWI sobriety checkpoint conducted at the intersection of Missouri Highway 265 and Missouri Highway 165 in Taney County on June 11, 2016. The enforcement location was selected based on the high number of drinking- and impairment-related crashes, in addition to other traffic violations that contribute to unsafe driving behavior.

During the DWI checkpoint, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers stopped 324 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

DWI Arrest -- 1
Seat Belt Citations -- 3
Driver License Violations -- 5
Misdemeanor Drug Arrests -- 7

Warnings -- 60

“Driving while intoxicated continues to be a major contributing factor of traffic crashes on Missouri’s roadways. Removing impaired drivers from our roadways is a priority to the Highway Patrol, and we take that very seriously. Please drive safely and always designate a sober driver,” stated Captain Villanueva.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
