EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Francois And Washington Counties



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in St. Francois and Washington counties. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. Listed below are the enforcement contacts from the Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.

2 -- DWI arrests
7 -- speed summonses
13 -- seat belt summonses
4 -- non-moving summonses
7 -- hazardous moving summonses
1 -- driver's license summons
1 -- stop sign summons
49 -- warnings
47 -- total vehicles stopped

Captain Johnson stated, “Alcohol continues to be responsible for approximately 30 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
