EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Saturation Conducted In Lake Area

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer, Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the results of a DWI saturation conducted in the Lake of the Ozarks area. The Lake of the Ozarks area within Troop F includes Camden, Miller, and Morgan counties. The saturation was conducted from 7:00 p.m. on July 3, 2015, to 3:00 a.m. on July 4, 2015. During the enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. The following is a list of enforcement contacts for the operation:

3 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrests (1 Felony, 2 Misdemeanors)
1 -- Speed Violation
2 -- Seat Belt Violations
1 -- Uninsured Motorist Violation
3 -- Non-Moving Violations
1 -- Hazardous Moving Violation
1 -- Felony Warrant Arrest
51 -- Warnings
32 -- Vehicles Stopped

Captain Turner stated, “Motorists traveling on Missouri’s roadways can expect that members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be striving to do all we can to rid our roads of unsafe drivers. Please help us by being the safest driver you can possibly be. Always pay attention to the task of driving, and please wear your seat belt at all times.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
