EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint


Captain Randy Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted from 9:00 p.m., May 23, 2008 until 3:00 a.m., May 24, 2008, on U.S. 63, approximately one mile north of Rolla. During the six-hour period, troopers assigned to the checkpoint stopped a total of 408 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the operation:
1 - DWI Arrest
1 - Speed Violation
7 - Seat Belt Violations
3 - Vehicle Registration Violations
8 - Driver’s License Violations
3 - Uninsured motorists Violations
2 - Minor in Possession of Alcohol Violations
5 - Misdemeanor warrants
1 - Felony warrant
76 - Warnings

“If you observe a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner”, Captain Becker stated, “please call the Missouri State Highway Patrol Emergency Hotline at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on a cellular phone, to report the incident. By removing the impaired driver from our highways we hope to continue to make Missouri’s highways some of the safest in our nation.”
